i saw a pic on the net where the icons on the top most of the screen like the wifi signal, the battery status, the time etc.. was customized with diff. colors.. how do i do that?? pls help..

Well first, certain phones have different colors and styles (Samsung vs Moto vs HTC). Second, in order to change those it generally involves rooting your phone and installing a custom ROM and/or using Metamorph (which also requires root) to change them.
