Help Night mode

Hi,

I want my galaxy s III to have a button that makes it go "battle stations" red. Is there an app? There is a reason that all old battle ships and U-Boats go red on the bridge during trouble. Its because you can look up from reading a red lit chart to see off in the dark ocean without your eyes having to adjust. I use my phone at night. Any advice would be appreciated on how to do this. I can reasonably bumble around this phone, but still cant find how to adjust settings like this.

Not really possible.
You could have multiple themes, change the icons and wallpaper, set of widgets and the like. But it will not extend beyond any app. So as soon as you open an app, it will have the stock theme color. Given you are not going to stare at the wall long time before proceeding to use some app, don't really seem like worth the effort.

Don't know if this would a 100% solution for you, but check out an app called Twilight. It does "tint" the screen with a red type color and it's configurable.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get Google Maps to go into night mode. I hate having to use it at night 'cause it's blinding. But twilight helps with that a little.

Good luck

Try WAZE, it has very nice night mode. For me it works far better than google maps.

This is what you're wanting right? uploadfromtaptalk1377867986028.jpg
download Lux from the Play Store. There is both a free and paid version. Just look for "Astronomer Mode" in the app. The app itself is a brightness adjuster and it gives more options than the stock slider. The paid version does automatic adjustments.

download Lux from the Play Store...

Yeah... that's basically what Twilight does.

And thanks to SebaKL for the Waze suggestion. I've not really looked into Waze before, although I've seen it discussed in numerous posts. I've always thought Waze was more of a social networking mapping software. Is that true? If so, I'm not involved in any kind of social networking and didn't think that Waze would be all that useful for me.

Should probably keep the Waze talk to a minimum since I don't want to hijack the OP's thread.
