To get internet on 3G/4G, your APN settings have to be the ones your carrier uses. Putting in a new ROM may reset the APN, so you have nothing in there, so no internet.

Call your carrier and get their APN settings. Then, every time you put in a new ROM, check them and correct them if they're wrong. (If the dev who write the ROM has a different carrier, his APN settings won't work with your carrier.)

hey

i have been in at my carriers website to get those APN settings but it is still not helping...

For Internet:

APN: internet
MCC: 238
MNC: 01
APN type: default

For MMS:

APN: mms
MMSC: http://192.168.241.114:8002
MMS proxy: 194.182.251.15
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 238
MNC: 01
APN type: mms

and this is not doing it.... and had try that very time i try a new rom... but thanks

I suspect that you might not have the full APN settings there. For my O2 UK APNs I need username & password fields to be filled. You may have more success if you google your carrier APN details.

Are you using the kernel that came with your ROM? Some devices require a kernel to be flashed separately but the desire does not. Usually it is a good idea to stick with the default kernel unless you have a good reason to change it?

Do you know which radio you have for your phone? From off, hold volume down (-) & press power. The information displayed there on the bootloader should include your radio version. If it is 5.17.05.23 you have the latest. If you don't have that one don't rush into changing it, there are some other things to check first.

Like your last thread, this would probably be better in the all things root section.

my APN dont need username & password... it is how it is in denmark... i know you neet that in the uk...

my radio is 4.05.00.11.... so not the same as you say is the last one...

i do use the kernel from the rom....or should i say that i have not install a kernel my self...

That is an old 2.2 (Eclair) radio. It may be worth upgrading to the latest radio available here.

You are S-Off so there are 2 options:

1) If you have not changed your hboot (To confirm, does it just say Revolutionary in pink at the top of the bootloader page?) you can flash the radio zip via recovery:

Place the radio zip file on your sd card, boot into recovery, select install zip from sdcard, select the radio zip & confirm.

2) If you have changed your hboot to one which has a small cache partition (it will say Bravo Data++, Bravo Oxygen r2, or Bravo CM7 r2 in pink at the top of the bootloader page) you will need to flash the radio via fastboot commands.

Ok thats fine. Your hboot was changed to the Revolutionary hboot as part of the S-Off process. However it has the same partition layout as the stock hboot so you can flash the radio zip via 4ext recovery in the way described in option 1 of my previous post.

If your APN settings are correct the radio should improve your mobile data connection.

i install Revolutionary again.... i also like that one much better...

i try to update the radio 5.17.05.23 as you say but it will not and its come back with this:

Amend scripting ( update-script ) is no longer supported. Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please swith to Edify scripting ( updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip peckages. Installation aborted.

You do not need to run Revolutionary again. Revolutionary will give you S-Off & the option of a custom recovery. You already have both of these.

You will need to open the radio zip file and copy the radio.img file within it to your pc I suggest you place it directly on your :C drive.

Then:
a) Boot into fastboot mode (from off, volume-up and power or volume-down and power then cycle to fastboot option)
b) Connect phone to PC through USB. You should see "FASTBOOT USB" on your phones screen.
c) Open CMD (Start > Run > type "cmd" and press enter)
d) Type "fastboot flash radio c:\your radio file name" where c:\your radio file name is the exact location and name of the radio file you downloaded.

it is saying "can not recognize fastboot as a commando or a program" when i type "fastboot flash radio c:\radio.img" or "fastboot flash radio c:\0000\radio.img" if it is in a folder or "fastboot flash radio c:/radio.img" with the "/" and not "\"

but it is not start up

Did you root this phone yourself? Did you follow the guide, in this forum's root guide section, to rooting with Revolutionary?

I don't know why fastboot commands are not working if you followed all the prerequisite steps in the guide. However there is a utility that could do the job for you. You will find it at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193915

There are other things that might cause lack of 3g. Are you sure your SIM card is fully functional? Have you used mobile data previously with it?

Yes, I'd get that radio updated as the first step. After that we can see what is working, but the phone won't operate correctly with a Gingerbread ROM and an Eclair radio.

Those error messages say to me that you don't have fastboot installed on your computer (or maybe you are not running from the folder you installed fastboot.exe to). The guide to rooting with Revolutionary in this forum includes a pointer to how to install it, or else this post should help: http://androidforums.com/5389081-post2.html.

You'll never get 4g on this phone, because it doesn't have the hardware. But 3g certainly should work.

Perhaps just my tapatalk then. It tells me it was deleted.

You're right, it works when I use a browser. Sorry.

hey... sorry it tolk so long time to get back but i i was busy with a lot of other things..

i have got my radio update so it look like this now:

SPL/hboot version: 6.93.1002.
Radio version: 5.17.05.23.
Main software version: 2.29.405.5.
cid: htc__y13.
cpld: none.
product: bravo.
mid: pb9920000.
security: off.
build-mode: ship.

i have put cyanogenmod 7 for desire on the phone for was not sure if it was Gingerbread.

but it is still the same with the internet/3g

I had it working before i put a custom rom on the phone, the software it was born with.....

i can see other then it is the rom or kernal there is something with... but i am not sure

If it was working with stock HTC sense then it can only really be your APN settings. The only other possibility I can think of is a faulty SIM card. Do you have a friend on the same network? Could you check their APN settings or try their SIM card in your phone?

Other than that I am out of ideas. Hadron may be of more assistance though. He is much more knowledgeable than me.

yes it was....

i set it at GSM/CDMA and it was working...

in same way it have put it at WCDMA preferred... but when i set it at that again it is working....

it is a little bit wired....

That might solve your problem. I never used CM 7 on my desire so I am not sure of what the default settings are. However, I would be surprised if they were not set correctly from first boot. I still suspect APN settings.
