Help No 3G data

whenever I get a 3g signal, I don't seem to get any data connection and my connection times out. fine on H, also on E (but slow)

is that supposed to happen?

anything i can do about it?

Try dialling *#9900# and turn of fast dormancy. This will increase the time before your phone switched back from h to 3g

found the solution with some more googling (spent the whole afternoon trying to work it out)

I was using wrong APN codes for vodafone

they have a vodafone WAP and vodafone internet APN - I was on wap that only grants access to their vodafone live service. swapped to internet and all perfect.

might be helpful to anyone else on vodafone......

My data connection is working ok, not the best but ok, should I turn off fast dormancy? Is it better in every case? or should I leave it on.

To be honest it works on a case by case basis. Some people will get improved battery and signal and others won't. There's only one way to find out. If it doesn't make any difference just dial the number again and turn it back on.
