No 3g for Tmobile G2?

Hey all. Im a little confused with my Tmobile G2. I try to keep it off 4g because of battery issues, but when doing so, my only option is to use 2g networks... what the heck happened to 3g? Is there a 3g option ? on other android phones you can switch between only 3g, 2g and 3g, and only 2g. Is there a way i can get that option on the g2?

When it comes to T-Mobile, 3G and 4G are the same technology. A 4G phone can simply handle the faster data. To shut down 4G is to shut down 3G on any T-Mobile 4G device.

Not really. If you look at the maps for T-Mobile data coverage, the 4G covers almost all of the area that their 3G used to cover. There are only a few small areas of 3G only coverage left.

Yeah I noticed its either 4g coverage, or 2g...I have yet to see this thing actually say 3g
