Help No 3G internet, Apps don't work. Update Question.

Hello, so over the winter break I updated my phone's build from Eclair to Gingerbread, and I updated the firmware from 2.2.1 to 2.3.6. While I thought the update went well, my phone can now only connect through the internet through wifi and my phone cannot run games (like Angry birds for example (I get an error "The application Angry Birds process com.rovio.angrybirds has stopped unexpectedly" when I try to open it. This is just an example as this happens to my other apps as well). My phone still performs well as a phone and can receive and send text messages just fine.

other info about my phone
Model : GT-I9000
Firmware : 2.3.6
Build number : Gingerbreak.xwjvz

Would it be wise to downgrade somehow and then try updating it again?

Thanks in advance.

Firstly, 2.2.1 was codenamed Frozen Yogurt (Froyo) not Eclair. Pedantry aside, you have flashed an unofficial firmware and may have flashed the wrong CSC (the file that contains the radio info for specific networks/countries). Try re-flashing a firmware specific to your country and once done perform a factory reset to clear out old junk from previous firmwares.

Ray.
