Help No 3g on transform?

Lurker
I have the samsung transform and live in a complete 3g area but for some reason, my phone has the evdo icon on the status bar. Can anyone explain this why im not getting 3g.

I'm assuming you know the difference between the evdo and evdo rev A icons on the Transform. It doesn't have a 3G icon like the HTC Evo.

Might be a weather related issue. I live 45 miles north of NYC in a 3G (evdo rev A) area but starting today, I started getting the evdo icon only, too. However, my speeds using the Speedtest.net app average around 650kbps down 500kbps up. That's right on the lower end of rev A speeds. When the 3G network was working in my area, however, I was only getting around 800-900kbps.

nstg8r...you are wrong. All EVDO is 3G.
Rev A is just a faster version.

Non 3G would be a CDMA connection. That drops you down to a "2G" connection

Ok, you're right, but ev-do also uses cdma as well as tdma.

The original poster stated that his phone displayed the ev-do icon and that it he wasn't getting 3G.

1xRTT (IS-2000) is 2G.
