Root No 3g?

I rooted my friends Droid 2 about 2 months ago, he's running liberty 1.5 now and has been for like a month now. It was running perfectly fine until Tuesday when his 3g shut off. There is nothing in the notification bar saying 3g at all. I have checked settings, not in airplane mode or anything. Any suggestions?
