No access to Kies

I recently had a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S4, so backed it up on Kies before giving it in to repair. Everything has been deleted from my phone (as expected) but in the meantime my laptop has died. I managed to get some contacts back via Google, but not all my pictures etc. Is there any way I could access Kies through another PC or device?

Assume that the laptop's hard drive is still good, you can remove it and connect a USB adapter to it. Then you can plug it into any computer with a USB port and get any files off the drive. (The adapters sell for $10-$20, depending on how pretty you want the box they come in.)

If the laptop's hard drive is shot, that's the reason you always make TWO backups of important files. It's unlikely that both backups will go bad at the same time.
