No Android 3.0 for X10!

The new Android 3.0 code named Gingerbread, will impose minimum hardware requirements, the UI is getting overhauled and Android is splitting into two.
Android 3.0 Gingerbread, says Eldar Murtazin, edotor-in-chief of Mobile-review.com, will be for high-end devices only. A 1GHz CPU and 512MB RAM at minimum plus a display over 3.5" inches in diagonal.
The X10 only has 384 MB RAM not 512 MB RAM, therefore Android 2.2 (Froyo) will be the last of the Android OS the x10 will get. :(

Update: these requirements no longer need to be the minimum requirements but the recommended requirements, x10 may well get Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) in the near future. :)
 
Really sucks esp as I was told in the shop that the X10 and the Desire had the exact same internal specs!

Now we are all using an out of date phone! FFS!!!
 
Well, but let's be reasonable here... SE is slow enough about supporting new OS versions that by the time they got around to using 3.0 we'd all want new phones anyway.
 
I was going to post on xda if the 1gb of internal memory could be partitioned and converted into extra ram?

Could be possible, with some of the skilled folk on there?
 
There will be custom roms too so we might get a more efficient cut down version to go with our less than recommended specs
 
How many people here, purchased the X10 hoping that they would be able to upgrade to 3.0? which by the way is shrouded in rumours?

On the same note, how many of you can recite the advantages of 3.0 over 2.2?

The only complaints we should be having are, Battery life, phone call volume and 16k colours (which I Especially HATE)

I didn't know of 3.0 when I bought the phone. :D Phone call volume is no problem for me. Is it really low on your phones? Android 2 will increase the colours if I'm not much mistaken.
 
you guys really think we will ever get 3.0 in our x10's ? come on !!! they baerly go to 2.1 in q4 (if ever)

LOL really and there i was feeling chuffed we had 2.3.3 (which is gingerbread) and you have 3.0 (Which is honeycomb no?) wow, just wow....
 
3.0 (HoneyComb) is for Tablets only....no chances that X10 can have that....lucky enough we went from 1.6 to 2.3.3
 
Its okay.. Anyhow, Google will definitely launch this Android OS 3.0 for X10 too.. Only time that matters.. Just be patient for it and believe in the Google technicians.

I will always trust Google..
