Help No APN on Sprint version

Hey there! Bought LG G7 ThinQ on the secondary market. Everything is fine except one — there is no mobile data on it. I can call or text, I can use Wi-Fi, but mobile data doesn't work.
I tried to add a new APN, but there is no way to do it in settings (Screenshots). Also, I tried the "Add APN" apk, but it didn't help me too.
Then I tried doing a factory reset, resetting network settings, but it still doesn't work.
What should I try before rooting the device and reflashing it?[GALLERY=media, 1715]Screenshot_20220825-140405 by andryuhaagressor posted Aug 25, 2022 at 2:10 PM[/GALLERY][GALLERY=media, 1714]Screenshot_20220825-140413 by andryuhaagressor posted Aug 25, 2022 at 2:10 PM[/GALLERY]

So it has both IMEI and MEID, so I guess it supports both GSM and CDMA

Which carrier are you using? Just to confirm, you are trying to use APN settings obtained for your carrier and not old Sprint APN settings, yes?

Sprint was bought up by T-Mobile back in 2020 and since then T-Mobile has either absorbed or closed down Sprint's cellular network. If this is a carrier-locked model there's going to be issues using cellular connectivity. On top of that, GSM is much more prevalent now, and CDMA is becoming a rarity.

It's Russian operator called MTS. I used their official APN settings from their website

Have you tried contacting MTS tech support to see what they have to say about your problem?

By the fact it can't set an APN for MTS in Russia, I'm pretty sure that American Sprint version LG G7 ThinQ is still locked with Sprint's nasty MSL(Master Subsidy Lock). MSL is specific to CDMA phones and networks.

Sprint are no longer around, but there are apparently ways to unlock an MSL device.

Okay, so...
Nothing said above helped, so I reflashed my device on the Verizon version. Now I have a 4G icon on top, but it's greyed. Now I have an "Add APN" option, but it doesn help. Changes cannot be saved.
Any advices?)

If the problem is hardware-related, any software-related fix (APN setting, new firmware, etc.) won't solve anything. Buying old, pre-owned phones always involves more risk with compatibility issues. At some point you should ask yourself if fighting so much with this particular phone to be fully functional is worth it, or buy a phone that just works. Or just keep using WiFi connectivity for online access since that's working out OK.

That's the business of interests :D
And yes, I want this phone to be fully functional, so I will fight til the end

What the hardware problem could it be?

I'm admitted clueless about MTS's cellular network or anything about the state of cellular networks in Russia but worldwide CDMA networks are being decommissioned at an increasing rate. Except for a brief period decades ago, it's always been secondary to GSM cellular. Sprint was typically a rarity using CDMA so that Sprint phone itself is oddity. That aspect an integral part of the cellular radio chip that's soldered onto the logic board inside the phone. That's what processes all cellular connectivity for the phone. So there's that aspect to take into consideration, plus every cellular radio chip is by design going to support specified cellular bands/frequencies. Depending on what MTS uses for its cellular network if your LG G7 ThinQ does not support the same bands as what MTS uses, there is a mismatch that software cannot account for. The problem is hardware related.

LG G7 ThinQ cellular bands for GSM / CDMA / HSPA / LTE
2G bands
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2 (dual-SIM model only)
CDMA 800 / 1900 - USA
3G bands
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - Global
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - USA
HSDPA 850 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 - G710AWM
4G bands
1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28, 32, 38, 40, 42, 46 - Global
2, 4, 5, 7, 13, 20, 28, 46, 66 - USA (G710ULM)
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 25, 26, 40, 41 - USA (G710PM)
1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41 - G710EMW, G710EAW
1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,20,25,29,30,38,41,46,66 - G710AWM
Cross reference the above comparing the model I.D. of your phone (i.e. GM-710ULM or GM-710VM) and what MTS provides. If they match up than you should be good, if not just do a little research beforehand and buy a different phone.

It's very likely still disabled with the MSL. I believe to obtain the MSL unlock code for this device, you have to be a Sprint customer...

Good luck!!
