No apps can connect to the internet

I rooted my phone using Gingerbreak and went in and deleted some alog files from the root directory that were maxing out my internal memory. I went back a couple of days ago and deleted more of the random alog files. I must have inadvertently deleted something I should not have. All of my apps can no longer connect to the network to retrieve data. They connect through WIFi pretty much without issue but can use the phones data connection. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution. I was thinking about unrooting and then rerooting to see if that solved the problem. Or going with the Cyanogen mod although that was more advanced than I was really hoping to take it.

I think you should reflash stock rom (or CM, Sharp, starship... whatever floats your boat). I don't think Gingerbreak broke your data, just in case check in the setting if you have Mobile Data checked.
