Help no Battery life after new update?

diplomat1

Newbie
So i downloaded the new update about 5 days ago and now my battery life has gotten horrible. I get about 6 hours a good day. I see under the system lite that everything is "active applications". Could that be the cause becuase before they were under "inactive applications". When i close them they reappear quickly. Any ideas? Thanks

Same problem here. My solution was to back up everything with MyBackupPro and I did a factory reset. Reinstalled purchased apps from the Market and others were restored from BackupPro along with SMS and call log. Contacts and calendar synced from gmail. In the backup I was careful NOT TO RESTORE system settings or anything else that wasn't essential.

Battery life seems to be back to "normal", although I'm still not getting the "highly improved" battery life that others are reporting after the update.

Will it back up free apps as well? Also when you restore your system, are the apps there on your sd card, or is it a matter reinstalling them all from the market, with on click?

The program will allow you to backup to your card or you can backup to their servers online. I had mine stored on their servers, and yes it backs up ALL apps free and purchased. It also backs up stuff like contacts call logs and system prefs. Just be sure not to restore sys prefs.

Okay, I found a free 30 day trail for "My Backup Pro". I downloaded it, and backed everything up, and did a hard reset. Upon restarting the phone, the app is obviously gone, because of the hard reset, so I reinstalled it, and selected restore, but I'm getting an error message, saying, no backup found. Any ideas on what to do?

Thanks

Same pin#? Are you sure you backed up apps and data? Go to their website rerware.com and make sure you have a backup set stored there.

Didn't backup online, just sd card. I can see backed up apps on my sd card, but "My Backup Pro" can't find them.

When you did the restore with MyBackup Pro, my understanding is if you are not rooted, then the "market link" for the apps is not restored. So if you restore app X and there is an update to app X, you won't get it.

After doing the restore, when you go into the Market --> My Apps, do you see your apps there? If you do, I assume that the information I have is incorrect and that you will in fact get updates....

WOW! Good catch! No the restored apps are NOT in "my downloads". So what is the solution? To re-download the apps from Market? What kind of shenanigins is this?? It was sooo easy for me to back up and restore my Palm OS straight from my SD card, data and all. I'm still trying to get used to this Android platform

If you are not rooted, then yes, the only solution I know of is to re-download each app. You could make it easier by using a program like Share My Apps. It will send you an email of your apps. The email will contain links to the Market webpage for the app. So you can just click down the list and install.

I agree backing up on Android is not seamless. It would be nice to be able to perform something like a Norton Ghost backup of the phone. I believe you can if you are rooted, but not everyone wants to root.

You probably just need to move the folder. Make sure it's a root folder

Excuse the dumb question, what is a root folder?

Here is my current path when clicking on options. /sdcard/external_sd

Now going to My files, here is where the file is. /mnt/sdcard/rerware/MyBackup

So do I copy this "/mnt/sdcard/rerware/MyBackup" and paste it in the backup location under options?
