Help No bootup/charge while plugged in

Hello, I am having a slight problem with my new Galaxy Tab. I went from an iPad to the Tab 10.1, and I am starting to regret it, but hope is not lost.

When I plug the tab in, it dies as soon as the charger touches the device. When I unplug it, it boots up fine, but will not turn on while plugged in.

After I unplug it, it will boot up just fine, but the battery shows it didn't charge and I am down to my final 30%. NO matter how long I leave it on the charger, no charge... period. I tried two different Samsung chargers (I have two of em).

Also after I plug it in and it dies, the date time shows January 1st 12AM.

I tried a factory reset by doing the power + volume up bottom, and it still does it, and tried to same method via the settings menu. Still nothing.

Any suggestions to help cure this, so I can charge the device?

Thanks in advance!

What's the charger plugged into? The Tab won't charge while turned on if the Samsung cord is plugged into a non-OEM charger (the part that plugs into the wall) unless you get a different cord that has a charger/sync switch. The fact that it turns off when you plug it in though concerns me- that shouldn't happen, maybe it's shorting out or something?

Its the OEM Samsung charger it came with, plugged into the wall. I found it does not cut off when plugged into the computer, but it still won't charge either from the computer. I don't know what gives? Any software type things you can think of I can do or you anyone can think of, let me know.

Many thanks again
