No colour notification bar in S5

Is it just me that misses the coloured icons in the notification bar between S4 and S5? (maybe S2&S3 but i can't remember)
Small thing I know but I got used to previous galaxy phones having 'green' battery icons and coloured uplink/downlink traffic on the 3G or WIFI icon.
Now eveything is bland and B&W.
Did I change something in settings? I have checked but failed to find the changes I made when 'playing'?

That's just the device being on KitKat (4.4), just like with my lg g2, on 4.3 my icons was colors but now it's just black and white.

That's just the theme of KitKat.

Know what you mean. The original Galaxy S also had colored up/dn icons.

Battery Doctor has a green colored circle that indicates battery status.
ie, 50% battery left half of the circle is green, the rest is blacked out and inside the circle is two digits displaying the exact percentage left.

That is the only icon I pay any attention to.
