No EQ on this phone?

Hey guys;
I've got an LG Fiesta 2 (TracFone) running Android 7.
I just signed up with Spotify Premium yesterday, and have been searching for the EQ feature on the Spotify Android app. After several searches, it appears that my phone does not have a built-in EQ, and thus there is none available to Spotify.
The music sounds muddy even when I am on WiFi and set quality to Very Good.
Spotify app on my Windows 10 box sounds great, as I would expect.

Until now, I have been listening to music on my Android phone with PowerAmp Pro (latest version). Poweramp has its own EQ, so I can control the sound as I like.

Is there anything I can do to make Spotify music sound better (more treble, less muddy), short of replacing the phone - which I intend on doing soon, but waiting for Amazon Prime day to get a better deal.

Thanks for your help

could it be your headphones? there are plenty of eq apps on the play store that might help, never really saw the need for one, so i can't comment on which one to use.

I run sound for live music acts, so I know how annoying poor sound quality can be.

I also don't like apps with ads.

So, here are a few app suggestions for you, from someone that is in the music business.

No specific order here.

https://eq-ecualizador-fx.en.uptodown.com/android

https://apkpure.com/p/eu.javeo.android.neutralizer

https://apkpure.com/p/com.weebly.kainz.simple_equalizer

There are different approaches and skill levels (again, they are not in any particular order) with each of these.

They are all small enough that they can all be installed at the same time.

However, they cannot be used at the same time.

So be sure that each is 'off' before you attempt to use another one.

Android only allows one of such app to run at a time, so they will interfere with each other.

Regardless if your device has an eq or not, it probably does have a syatem app called Music FX.

It can become troublesome, sometimes getting 'stuck', and not allowing apps like these to have any effect.

Usually the quick fix is a restart of the device.

Another thing to keep in mind, especially with actuall 'EQ' style apps, is the fact that an eq will not work the same way as it does on a home stereo system.

Often you will find that raising a certain frequency will lower the volume of the other frequencies.

Generally this keeps me from using the eq at all, and sticking to the 'virtualization', 'loudness', and other such effects instead.

Anyway, each of the above apps I linked to above has earmed its place onto my devices for various reasons.

I hope they work for you as well as they do for me.

I have used each pretty extensively, so if you want more info just ask.

Oh, I forgot to mention- Ecualizador FX (EQ-FX) is an old version that doesn't have ads.

If you update it, it will have ads.

All the otheres are ad-free.
Thanks. I installed the last one on your list. Works great, and simple to use. Spotify sounds much better using the EQ.
Interesting thing; The add-on EQ does not affect PowerAmp at all. It has its own EQ, and I think I have 'direct sound' or something like that ticked off in PowerAmp, so that's good. I don't have to change my PA settings.

I am doing the 3 month free Spotify Premium. The main reason I wanted it was to search for old classic Rock songs I didn't already have in my purchased music library. So far, not many. I have a fair number of songs (around 5K) on my phone - all of which I purchased either as CD's or from iTunes or 7Digital. Fortunately for me, iTunes is still available for Windows 10. I don't know what I will do if streaming becomes the only way to listen to music.
I use TracFone, so purchasing data would get quite expensive after a while if all I do is listen to streaming.
Of course, I can still download the music from Spotify, but I need to pay the $10/mo forever if I want to keep those songs. Also, because of DRM, I won't be able to open them in Reaper and add effects, as I sometimes do. I've also created some 'mashups' in Reaper; all of which is only possible if I purchase music rather than stream it.

There is a massive amount of music available on Youtube.

And thankfully, there are apps available that allow for a much better user experience than the free official Youtube app.

(music streaming, no ads, background player)

MusicPiped (Materialistic music player that streams music from YouTube) - https://f-droid.org/app/deep.ryd.rydplayer

(music/video streaming, no ads, background player, download capability)

NewPipe (Lightweight YouTube frontend) - https://f-droid.org/app/org.schabi.newpipe

puppykickr;
I don't think I could use the YouTube streaming app, as I don't have a data plan with TracFone. While the amount of data used for streaming music is much lower than for video, I would surely run through more than $10/mo in data usage. If music streaming ever becomes a thing for me, I will need to move away from TF and get with VZ, AT&T or other such carrier who offers unlimited data plans. But for now, I am saving $$$ using TF, even if I consider what I have been spending for music from iTunes (download, not streaming).

In the end, I probably won't keep Spotify once the 90-day free trial ends. I have always been, and will most likely continue to be a fan of purchase & download music from the likes of iTunes.

The main point was NewPipe.
It allows for downloading.

Find yourself some free Wi-Fi (at home, a hotel, a local Wal-Mart, a library, McDonald's, etc.) and have at it.
