Help No 'Forgot Password' Button

hi, i updated to android 2.3 last month and i made a number lock password yesterday, but now i've forgotten it. i know my gmail password details but there is no button to press for forgetting my password. so i was wondering how else i can get into my phone without doing a hard reset.

Get them to reset your password.

hi, my problem is that i dont know my unlock code. its like the pattern lock but like iphone its a number lock. i cant remember the code but i know my gmail details.

Did you try entering for the password the word ' null '?

Here is another possible fix:

Thank you so much!! to every one else yuo must have alot of patients. i almost broke my phone i wanted to slam it on the wall from the irritation. This works even if you dnt have a shortcut on your home screen.

1) open slide, go to account info screen

2) go to emergency call (now heres where its frusterating BE PATIENT)
press the <- back key

3) very quickly press menu, Repeat 1 and 2 then hit security.

4) after this keep reapeting until you complete the patern removal.
the screen will quickly in a second keep going back to the slide screen keep repeating step 1,2. When the phone takes you back to the slide every time you repeat step 1 and 2 when you hit the bak botton the screen will be exactly where you left off.

what you got to go to is Menu, Settings, And Uncheck the (require pattern box) then the tricky and most hard part is entering your pattern You only have 1 second to do so.

*This only works if you know your pattern. My phone got locked because my nephew was messing with it.

instead of typing your email address as '@gmail.com' try '@googlemail.com'! that sorted mine out

I just managed to unlock mine (eventually).. just switched off, removed sim card, switched back on and entered the correct pattern, then put sim card back in and switched it on again and it worked. This truly is the worst phone of all time, last time this happened I had to have a factory reset done and lost everything so thanks all.

If none of that works....only a repair/reset will fix it.

As long as you also tried using the password 'null'

Then...I donno the buttons for the reset.

Just goto Sony's website and download PC Companion and install it.

Turn off the phone and remove it's battery

In PC Companion, chose the right phone and on the last step chose repair.

Plug in USB cable to phone and computer.

When it says to unplug everything and plug in and push back button....at that point, hold the back button, and pop in the phone battery.

It should start the repair/update/reset.

havnt got a windows pc at all. i hve a mac and linux so i cnt install pccompanion and the button methord doesnt work

Well, install windows.

I hate to say it.

I am currently on Kubuntu and my laptop has Ubuntu and Windows 7 dual boot.

Or try that last link I left. Or search using google on how to do the reset using buttons.

At some point, you are going to need to update your phone and download a newer version of Android, there is no way to do that without installing Windows.

You could try using Wine and install PC Companion through that, but I have heard using VMWare that it won't detect the USB ports properly....
