No free basic visual voicemail?

I get free basic visual voicemail on the other two phones on my contract, a galaxy s6, and an iPhone 5. When I select the visual voicemail app on the moto x, all I get is an option to either call star 86 and do it verbally or to sign up for premium $2.99 a month. Why does my Moto X not have the option for free basic visual voicemail like the rest of my phones do. I researched it on the Verizon website and it says all smartphones have basic visual voicemail on their data plan.

Is the phone at the latest OTA update? I believe that Verizon created the free visual voicemail tier after the Moto X came out, and there was an OTA that updated the app.

I believe visual voicemail is a carrier dependent app, if your device comes from a specific carrier and that carrier has visual voicemail app for free then you can always download it from the play store. Moto X itself if it's a developers edition, not carrier specific does not have a Visual Voicemail that I.m aware of. If you have an VVM app on your Moto X then is is most likely carrier specific. What carrier are you on ?? I would check the play store to see if they have an app.

I check for updates. It said I was up to date. I'm still on 4.4. No update push out so far. So the internet says its supposed to be on the way. And we know everything the internet says is true

The app is already on my phone, but it only gives me the option to sign up for the premium, not the free basic visual voice mail that my other two phones have. I've given up on it. Just going to use youmail.

It should be on 4.4.4.

Just to clarify: is this the original 2013 Moto X or the 2014 Moto X? The 2014 model should be on 5.1.

Doesn't matter if the app is on your phone, Visual Voicemail apps are dependent on carriers, I have AT&T GPS app on my phone, but I use Cricket, so I can't use that GPS app. Again what version Moto X are you on as Doogald mentioned, and what carrier are you using, and is you phone a carrier dependent device ?? or is it a developers edition.

VZ dependant kitkat

OK, so the VVM app is also a Verizon app ?? Is VVM free with Verizon ??

I thought I read the Basic Visual Voice Mail was free with Verizon, but I would check with them to make sure.

It's supposed to be. That's the whole point of this thread. it's free on my other two devices, but I only have the option on my Moto X to sign up for premium . I can't find any reason for that. The Verizon site says it's even free even basic phones and all smartphones on the contract. As far as the home site says it shouldn't matter what version of Android I'm on

I know it's available and works on the '14 Moto X, I tried it. I actually don't recall seeing it on my '13 X. I'm going to my sister's later tonight, I'll see what it does on her phone.
Thanks for the help and investigation. I'm curious to what you find out later. But I have to say I've given up on it. I really just prefer to use youmail.

Try uninstalling the app, and go to the play store and try reinstalling the app, if you can't uninstall, then I would call VZW and see what they say.

Tried the uninstall option. I guess I really just don't care anymore enough to deal with Verizon's customer support. By the way when did they stop having 24 hour customer support? I tried to call them at about 9:30 at night and found out that I can only talk to an agent during daytime hours.
