Help No Friend Stream Notifications

I took the plunge from iPhone to the HTC One X. I opted for it because of the intreated social networking and being the best phone HTC have produced.

I've added Facebook and twitter to friend stream. But I get no notifications in when a message is waiting, even though it is turned on.

I have deleted the account and re-added them, rebooted, cleared the cache, factory reset, updated the os, spoken to HTC. Nothing.
HTC say it is a software issue.
Am I going wrong somewhere?
Do anyone get notifications from friend stream.
I'm considering jumping back if notifications just don't work.
Shall I just swop the phone it is brand new.

It's an app issue. It does not update automatically for me either, it's not just yours. You have to manually tap the update button.

I don't use it for this reason. I use twicca for twitter.

Yes, it does not do this at all for me either.

Which renders the app pretty much useless. I mean it's a nice widget on the home screen but it does not auto update and does not send notifications. Useless.

Look at APW or use separate twitter and fB apps.

Forget about using the Friendstream app and just go with a twitter app like Tweetdeck or Tweakdeck. I use Tweakdeck and can get my twitter and Facebook updates in one timeline, I can post to both of them in one post and you can set notifications in the notification bar or light up or vibrate or a sound.
I wouldn't return a phone because one app doesn't work the way you want it to. There are always other apps to try that will work if you give them a chance.

Not getting any push notifications. surely if the manufacturer HTC say its faulty I should return it?

Yeah, I've been having this same issue with my HTC Evo V 4G since the beginning of July. I was getting notifications for about a month and then they just stopped. I still use it to post status updates sometimes, but lately all the updates from other people compared to the one I see on my regular FB app. And just for the record, I can't even add my Twitter account to Friend Stream.
