Help No hope left..

Lurker
Hi guys, thanks for the forum and i hope to become a part of it. I've been under so much stress since yesterday, my galaxy s3 (on EE in the UK) for the first time decided it's data was corrupted yesterday after my battery died, never done this or anything like it before, and it wouldn't let me access the phone itself unless the data was reset.

I had a lot of very precious pictures in my gallery from the weekend, which unfortunately chose not to backup to google+ for the last few days, even though it always has up until recently. All night/day i've been trying to figure out and get software to recover these photos, which i think is possible as i did it a long time ago on a blackberry, but not android yet. I'm just hoping it can be done so the photos aren't forever lost, the other stuff gone doesn't bother me so much.

A lot of the software i've checked for says i need to have my phone rooted for it to work, i've only ever rooted my old galaxy S1 (which worked back then) but i can't seem to get the S3 to do it, the odin process goes fine then i get to the CWM screen and press proceed, but super user isn't installed and root checker says the phone isn't rooted. My phone also believes there's no sim card in and i get no signal now.

The guide i followed was on ibtimes (the 2nd link on google after searching root galaxy s3) as i can't post the link here.

So have i messed this up? And is there any hope for me getting these pictures back?

Thanks in advance for any help, it's much appreciated.

Welcome teevee2:)
Sorry about your issue there:( Although I have never tried any of the recovery programs, I didn't think alot of those needed the device to be rooted?? Not sure.
I know there are alot of recovery programs out there, but have you tried Recuva?

Is your phone operational at this moment?
Was the default location for picture storage on the internal or external sd card?

And is this the link you were trying to root with-- Root Galaxy S3 on I9300XXUGNA7 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

Hi there, yeah i think it needs to be rooted due to the newer OS not allowing you to mount the device for mass storage, only as a camera or media player, therefore not allowing the program i was using (called Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery) to actually scan the internal SD or external one. I'll check out Recuva now.

My phone is operational, just no signal and it's saying the sim isn't installed, which is obviously making things much worse. I just want to try and get the pictures back but obviously having my phone without the actual phone part of it working is just as frustrating. Pretty much all the pictures were on the Internal SD, and this was the default for storing them too i'm sure.

Yes, that's the link, though i realised i have a GT-I9305, not an I9300, but i followed another guide on the same website just now (named "How To Root Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (GT-I9305) On Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official Firmware [Tutorial]") and still no luck.

Thanks a lot for your response, i'll try Recuva now.
