Hi Guys

I hope you can help a new guy out.

I have no real idea what I am looking for yet as I do not really know what minimum specs to look for.

I want a CHEAP :) tablet type android to use mainly as an ereader/viewing pdf files & diagrams.
Also for occasional video viewing and music.

So I would be most greatful if someone can tell me what to look for and what to avoid.

Cheers jps

I am fine with learning how to use/alter things.
Just need to know what to avoid & look for.
Also what min specs to look for.

Thanks for the info :)

What's your idea of cheap? You can buy tablet for less than $200 but some can be really frustrating to use because it's slow and the support for the device from the dev community is lacking.

I agree with Medion, that the nook color is the best option if rooted for a quality device for ereading and basic tablet functions.

Thanks for the info :)
I am in the UK so I will look at the nook.
Can any one tell me what specs etc I should be looking for.

Guess not :(

The nook has a 800mhz processor, 512mb of RAM and an IPS 7 inch capacitive screen. Once rooted, the device is very quick and capable of doing basic tablet functions without slowing down. There are some Android tablets below $200 that have crappy screens and low RAM. So be wary of that.

So I think the main specs that you should focus on is the screen quality since you like ereading and video, the CPU and probably the RAM.
