No internet connection detected??

mariashayes

Lurker
I use this app all the time. Used it earlier today but now all of the sudden it's saying to check the internet on my phone, it's not being detected. Which clearly I have or I wouldn't be in here. Its never done that before. Help!

Can you help with one question for more detail? Do you get on the internet using data or wi-fi? That would make a difference on why you are having that problem, I think.

Presumably your carrier doesn't allow tethering, and that's why you're using FoxFi? It's possible that they're now detecting and blocking it. Was anything updated at all, like your phone's firmware?

I've used this app for years, never with any trouble. There weren't any updates and had used it earlier today. Oddly enough, as soon as I sent this message it started working like normal.

Issue just began happening on my device today. I have used this hot spot utility for years and intentionally do not update my phone. So no changes have been introduced on my end.

Samsung Galaxy S4
Verizon grandfathered unlimited plan
Error: internet not detected on your phone.
Troubleshooting: Powered phone off
Removed battery
Removed sim card
Rebooted and waiting for full functionality of phone to load
Tested internet connection
Then opened FoxFi
Issue persists

I will continue to reboot and test this evening. If it has not returned by tomorrow morning I will wipe my phone and restore to 6 months ago. I will keep this forum updated with my progress.

Yup just happened on my Galaxy S6 edge + and noticing this is happening to a lot of other people. Looks like carriers did a silent update to disable every phone to tether.

Verizon new firm update 4.1.2 blocks wireless tether programs like foxfire so if your phone has updated to this firmware than most likely your problem is not the app but your firmware. 7/3/18 it appears unless the app received an update that's now having a conflict issue with Verizon the only other thing would be that Verizon his figured our way to block the app or at least for now so I guess we all have to stand by unless someone figures out of solution.

Same here. Brought my old version phones. All are running Android 6.x. No OTA updates.

None worked.

Verizone Note 4, Note 5, 6S edge.

Seem VZ is able to block from their ends.
Shirley. Time to say good bye to VZ and get Xfinity

It's also Verizon... Haven't updated anything in 2 yrs.
I seem to remmeber this happening before though, and it was working again in a few hours. Hopefully it is just on the app side. Let's all keep our fingers crossed.
This does seem familiar. Perhaps it will come back.

Also down on my Verizon Note 5 using Android 6.01. Verizon finally force upgraded me after avoiding countless update prompts over the last year. Rolled back to 6.01 afyer that and it worked great for about 3 months, and now it's broken despite no forced update.

And yes, I also recall on more than one occasion Foxfi suddenly failing over the last for 5 years and June fixed something to address it within hours. Hopefully that's the case this time.

I experienced the same problem today (July 3, 2018). Was working all day until now on all ZTE phones.
I found your post because the same thing with me, today, July 3, 2018, and it was working today up until about 1pm. We have Verizon. We have had this issue in the past, probably been about 2 years ago though. I am happy to see it's not just us. We have 2 phones with FoxFi

Exactly, in the past, been down for hours, sometimes a couple days, and then back up...hoping this is still the case this time. I never did the update, and it has not been forced to update, so I don't think it's a Verizon thing, hoping it's just FoxFi. I even wrote to them to ask if there was an issue today.

I have a feeling it's another FoxFi issue like in the past years. I am not touching my phone or app, and waiting to see. Since it is other carriers, we now know it's not Verizon blocking. I wrote to FoxFi, hoping others maybe did, and they will be aware of the issue. I am hoping it's just an app issue.

I m reading other carriers this is happening to. I am hoping this is another app issue like in the past. We have Verizon, I saw a Cricket and one other so far.

S6 down with Verizon. Been using this app for years. Anyone know of any other apps
Net-Share no-root-tethering in the Google app store. I was reading some people who used to have FoxFi but updated above 6.0 are now using this one, but not as good as FoxFi. ANYONE? Has anyone heard about this app as a replacement for FoxFi should it never work again?

The problem with this is that it works, but the internet doesn't. I think Verizon blocked it off completely at least from what I've seen. I tried almost every app in the app store and half are broken or do the same thing as this one. It's really frustrating and at the point where you will have to root to get mobile hotspot if that even works now.

Same problem. I went into Settings> More Settings>Mobile Networks> Access Point Names>Verizon Internet VZWINTERNET which took me to Edit Access Point Names. Everything but APN category (listing VZWINTERNET) is greyed out and most greyed categories state "not set". Anybody got a clue what this portends?
