No Key Lime This Time

I'm really wondering what's up with this rumor. Its all over the place. Except here. In fact this is probably the only android website that doesn't have an article about this. Just no comment at all. Curious to me. Even this threads gets started and buried with only one reply.

I want to have more discussion about this. How true do you think this is? Should we take it as a given based on those server logs, or is it still not concrete? And why would Google NOT stick to the pattern of releasing a new OS version at I/O? Would they really hold it back just in consideration of manufacturers? And why go to 4.3 instead of just 4.2.3? They've already had jelly bean on 4.1 and 4.2.

Who cares? This is important why? Not seeing the problem. Are people that hung up on getting a new nickname lol?

We're here because we're android fans, and we like to talk about android related stuff. A new operating system version and all that comes along with it, or now possibly the lack of one, seems like a perfectly legitimate thing to talk about. It's more than a nickname. If you don't care, don't participate in the thread. Personally the phone I now have is amazing and for a little while at least there's nowhere to go from here. New android versions are really the only thing left to get excited about for the next year or more. Except maybe Google TV stuff.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be offensive, just don't see why it matters if it is a new number vs. new nickname. What are the actual new features people are looking forward to this time? I haven't heard many rumors about what is being added fur KLP. Personally, I think Android is at a point where I wouldn't mind if development slowed down a bit. I don't see the need for Google to release a new version just to be on a certain timetable, let them release it when they have something worthwhile to add, and it is good and ready.

I'm sure forum talk will increase quite a bit once we get closer to Google i/o or a really big leak about the new revision comes out. There just isn't enough about it known yet to talk about, which is why there isn't many posts. But we'll get there, only another couple of weeks to go.

@Gmash: That's a good point. As Jelly Bean is pretty amazing. But people are wishing for more personalization options for one. A little of what you can get in custom Roms. This would be nice for people like me who don't like rooting and flashing.

But that's just something people would like to have. What's actually rumored to happen is the new babel messenger, maybe a couple other things I can't remember. Other than the fact I've never had a device get a full OS version update and it would be a little cool, I'm not super concerned with the name or number. It is a little confusing though trying to understand what Google is doing. And I'm guessing things will get confusing to average consumers pretty soon if there is going to be three different versions of Jelly Bean.

Wow I didn't know that about honeycomb. But they didn't do that with ICS. I thought they were done with all that. But as jelly bean becomes more widespread I can see it being an issue. The salespeople are going to have to explain all the minor differences in the three versions of jelly bean. And people are going to have to try and follow that, or just wonder why they shouldn't get an iPhone. Less confusing and all.

Yeah, it would be confusing to the average consumer. Then again, most don't even know what version they currently run anyways. Most people just buy what's cheap or what's trendy. Even most people with an iPhone probably couldn't tell you which revision number they're currently running.
