Help No LED Notification Light (uses ambient display)

Ambient display is stupid. It does no good if i'm not staring at my phone when the notification comes in! My ipad does that too which is useless. I also use a wallet case on my phone so i'd never see ambient display. But that bright LED on the edge of the phone is easy to see even with the wallet case and then I don't have to constantly be looking at my phone for a notification.
And it was a deal breaker for me until I learned I can root the phone to re-enable it. That little LED is one of the reasons i've never switched to an iphone.

If you have the phone in a wallet case, how would you see the LED anyway? I have a wallet case, and tried LightFlow. It sucked. Not to mention, since the LED isn't officially supported, using it is buggy at best.

Sounds like you need a smartwatch. :D

The wallet case doesn't close around the phone. You can easily see the LED glowing out the top so it's a non issue. I really only need the LED for messaging notifications for my various messaging apps. I don't care if it's just one color. Just need something.

Smartwatches cost wayyyy too much for what they are. I'll wait till prices drop significantly.

The price of a smartwatch and its value is subjective.

I had a top-of-the-line G-Shock that did world time, solar charging, atomic clock sync, the whole 9 yards. It was stolen in Vegas at McCarran Int'l. To replace it with an equivalent model would have cost a bit over $200. The extra functionality of the Android watch made it well worth the extra $40 as a replacement. It's not just notifications, it's placing and receiving phone calls from the watch, checking and responding to texts and emails, navigational directions on the wrist, weather reports, sports teams scores and upcoming games, etc. I'm not even going to mention watch-specific apps (programs that run on the watch itself as opposed to being a companion app) as there are many I haven't played with yet, and many added every day. Android Wear may not be perfect, but it is certainly feature-rich and a worthy watch at this stage in the game.

I certainly wouldn't buy another G-Shock at this point. I really loved that watch, too. RIP lil' buddy...

I installed LightFlow, but all it does is crash on the N6. Tried 2 different setup guides for LF, and still no go.

Then again, with my N6 doing a screen refresh every minute and a half to 2 minutes, well, it was a bonus when hte battery cover expanded and I was able to send it back. Hopefully the new one will not have any issues...

I had no problems with Light Flow not working but sucked my battery life when I had only one notification. The light stayed on ALL THE TIME. If I had two notifications they would flash and pulse, but unfortunately there is no way to make that happen with only one notification.
