Help No Lost Data

Hello. I want to know how to back up internal unaccessable data that would delete (contacts, gmail setup, memo, and app information such as budgeting data, etc) upon reflashing the system to a more current firmware. Is it also possible to keep the app layout I placed on my phone's desktop ("phonetop"?) thanks in advance.

To back up default apps like Memo you are going to need to use Titanium backup, which requires your phone to be rooted. Nothing can be done to backup the homescreens.
