No "Magic Eraser"

Followed a few tutorials for side loading magic eraser on a pixel 5.
DOESN'T WORK!
Tried this more than s few times over the past months.
Dunno if Google put the kibosh on it, and made it so its "exclusive" to the pixel 6 or what?
Somebody got REAL TIME info on this? Cuz all the videos & tutorials are 5 months or more old. I must've had more than a few updates to my phone since, including latest one (april 2022).
Says newer version installed.
Dont fully understand the SAI installer either.
Please lemme know the deal so I don't try to get this stupid thing anymore. I even tried renaming the apk file by removing the "m" in "apkm" at the end. NOTHING.
DONT WORK!
HELP!
Thanks!

can you explain more other than "it doesn't work"? what happens? it does not install? do you get an error when trying to run it? or nothing happens? blank screen? how are you installing it? where are you getting the app from? is it from the link that @Dannydet posted?

just remember that the more info you give us, the better we can help.

I do everything the YouTube say...
Download "SAI" App and Google photo apk. Run SAI, look for apk, install... But get errors. Says things like "newer version installed" etc. forget all the error messages. Was wondering if file extension was wrong. Says .apkm.
Renamed it to just .apk. Nothing.

No. It doesn't install.
Get error message, "newer version installed". Danny's apk dont work either.
Same thing. Using SAI INSTALLER to install split apks. Dunno what else to do.

Have you checked your app list & of folders on your device to see if any remnants of the app are still on the device and causing interference?

I’m not familiar with the installer but I would imagine it just runs the adb sideload “name of apk” command.

That or have you checked to make sure file extensions are not hidden on your PC?

Often times on Pixels they introduce new stuff on the newest phones and push the features out to older Pixels that are still within the update timeline so long as the hardware supports it. You said you have recieved updates and that the error is a newer version is already installed. Can you check that you may not already have it?

OK, I did a little googling. It seems the issue you have is that Google coded newer versions of Google Photos to not allow Magic Eraser to run on older pixels. You need to first uninstall the version of Google Photos you currently have installed (hence the newer version installed error) and install the one from the link, and turn of updates from play.

This article kind of explains it.
