No More Live Wallpapers?

Is it just me? or do many recent droid devices simply do not have the ability to use Live Wallpapers?
 
I've always regarded live wallpapers as a waste of battery, but in the interests of furthering human knowledge I just downloaded one from the Play Store and it worked fine. This is on a Pixel 2 running Android 10, March 2020 patch, so as recent Android as you can get without installing the android 11 developer preview.

So whatever the issue is, I'm afraid it's your manufacturer (or carrier) rather than Android itself.
 
I agree with @Hadron, live wallpapers just don't have enough value for me to use them. Having constant animations running the background are just eye candy so I prefer to save my battery's power to use on stuff I do need.
