Help No network after trying to unblock

Hi I have a problem with my x8. Some time ago i went with it to the phone service to unblock it(make it sim free). After few days I came back to pick my phone up. The guy said he cant do anything with it so I came back home. I havent checked my phone before taking it from the service. When I turned it on at home it wont connect to any network. I tried different sim cards and it cant recognise any of it. even if the simcard is inside it always says 'insert the sim card'. Wifi and other things are working but no sim card. What can i do with it now? Please help me

I am hoping this is not hardware related so I would first try running a software update:

The phone was updated, so i installed the soft again. It didnt worked for me :S

Unfortunately then it looks to be a hardware issue that may require repair. However do you have a secondary SIM you could try in the phone to at least rule that out?

Then unfortunately I would have to advise that you have the handset sent through to a repair agent for assessment.
