No new exploding reports?

And that's another thing...risk! No new incidences of overheating and still 1.2 million out there, being used! Clearly something has changed and I'm going to say that something is risk! I've almost made up my mind not to give mine up. Every day that goes by with no more problems has me more comfortable with doing that!
If you're happy with the safety & potential legal issues which you could face just to keep a piece of technology, then that's fine.

I know if my family was put at risk due to an exploding Note 7, I would ensure police and legal action be taken against that individual for putting me or my family 'at risk'.

I would bet that many others would do the same.

Given we have a manufacturer safety recall in place, you are potentially opening your self up to a whole raft of criminal and legal issues - especially in the US.

But if you're happy with that then that's fine.

There is nothing more to say that hasn't already been said, multiple times I might add, in response to what you wrote! All I will say is go to Samsung's website and read very carefully that it still says 'Voluntary' recall! You can't have it both ways! If you want to gripe at somebody, write Samsung, demand they make this recall mandatory!

It appears much of the indignation and outrage being expressed by the anti-note7 criers stems from the ignorantly selected and propagated term 'explode' to describe what happens when the problem occurs. Ignorant people who hear that term ignorantly experience horrific images in their mind of what they think it means, in this case. But, no, that's not what happens. They should watch the numerous videos posted of the devices when they are actually failing. They smoke, smolder, and flame a bit. The overheated battery swells and splits the phone open. It makes a mess. My god!! How does one manage such hazards?

Don't keep the phone anywhere those hazards will harm anyone or ignite anything. Don't take it on an airliner because it's now illegal.

Those are nuisances. For people who don't want to manage them, or can't, Samsung has made it very easy for you to unburden yourself. It's entertaining to see you wasting your time and effort trying to compel others to conform to your choice.
 
So I took one step in the direction of turning in my Note 7 which is necessary before I can actually do that (if it comes down to it). My T-Mobile bill has been jacked up from the beginning. My Note has been totally paid off, but I'm still being charged an EIP! If I turned it in for a refund now without them first fixing this I'd get only about $69.00! What a headache, long time on chat followed by a phone call, then told it will be next billing cycle before the changes show up. That's prolly after Nov 28 and that's if it's right this (third) time! I'll have this phone for a while yet, lol! Not giving it back until I'm assured I get all $850.00!

As far as I can see so far, if I do find myself unable to continue using my Note 7 with my carrier (Verizon), and need to get a new device, I will, and I'll keep the Note 7. It's still a fine camera and full fledged Internet enabled Android tablet. I couldn't care less about giving up the $100 'incentive' to turn it in to Verizon.
 
Exactly johnpjackson! You can use it as a external drive, Xbox controller, Alexa app, Harmony app etc, etc, etc. All of which I use! No need to use my (next) primary phone once I get a new one for these duties. I bet Google Play will continue to update apps on it. This will make a nice conversation piece/remote. I will add again ALL you people complaining about those who still use their Note 7 give it a rest!!! Are you still on this forum to preach since you no longer own the phone? Read my lips VOLUNTARY, voluntary, voluntary. Apparently Samsung sees no sense of urgency to make you safe. Even if deactivated they still pose a threat right? When it's mandatory count me in!

Oh one other thing the $75.00 incentive (if you already got the $25. bill credit) is ONLY for a Samsung product. Mate 9 should hit in January and I bet Note 8 news. They need to speed up production I sense defection from the brand. I'm actually considering leaving Verizon to get a satisfactory replacement phone. I've been with Verizon since Cingular/Cell one went to digital and half the coverage disappeared for a while. That was along time ago. Back when my plan was .50 a minute for anything over 1500 mins. Internet? Not yet.

I've been considering the Mate 9 all along but now that it's announced I'm not so did it's worth $776.00! Another thing is will it fully support US LTE bands? Plus, like you said, it's not available yet. The new year will see me still using this device.

I know the Mate 9 is released here in China so far.

For the bands and modes it does have from Huawei International website....
"CDMA EV-DO Rev. A, only for China Telecom"

So that rules out it working with Verizon and Sprint.

I guess eventually they'll officially release it in the US with a fully compatible version, for LTE and CDMA with the US carriers.

For myself, quite frankly I'm more than happy with the Oppo R9 Plus, I bought last week from my Note7 refund. :)

Like the Mate 9, I think it's only available in China so far. And Oppo doesn't do much stateside at all with phones.

Oppo International only lists the predecessors, R7 and R7 Plus.
That's probably why this phone wasn't on my short list. Too bad cause I really like this one better than the Mate 9. What part of the world are you?
 
thats great, i wonder if you could develop an app that would allow the original owner to make his or her phone go all note7 from a remote location if it gets stolen.
 
I do believe it was you who informed this forum that Samsung was going to roll out an update to limit charging to 60% here in the US, and you were right! Thanx for the tip, I had time to take measures to prevent that![emoji4]

Yes, I was right. I'm ALWAYS right... it's just that sometimes I'm more right than other times :p

But enjoy the early warning that you got. I won't be issuing any more. I don't want to enable anyone with a Note 7 to keep it a second longer. This WAS a phenomenal device with a very fatal flaw. The Note 8 will be all that and then some.
