When using Swype with my previous Android phone there was a key to start a new paragraph. On this phone there is an emoticon key replacing it. Is there a way to switch back to the New Paragraph key?

Is this issue only with SMS or email too? If only with SMS, try Chomp sms as your sms app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.p1.chompsms
If this issue is with all keyboard functions, try Touchpal keyboard - it also has the return key:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cootek.smartinputv5&hl=en
Hope this helps! Welcome to AF!
