no no local verizon towers means phone is unusable?!?

I have a LGL86c aka Optimus showtime, which for some reason not on LGs website for attainable specs or anything only a manual? anyways its thru straight talk when i went to have it activated when asked for my zip code i was told the phone i have runs via verizon towers and that my zip didnt show any. there is however a tower in a town about 25 miles away, but they werent sure on the range radius of the tower. Finally after over 2 and a half hours on the phone with different reps I finally spoke to a manager who was talking about the phone needing unlocked and wouldnt you know it I was disconnected. Go figure. Straight talks customer service sucks (IMO of course). anyways does anyone have a simple solution to my issue? I really wanted to go thr Straight talk because of the unlimited data on the prepaid plan. My goal is to find an unlimited data prepaid my zip code is 62618

Straight Talk uses all 4 major carriers. I would suggest go to a local Walmart and they will probably only stock phones that work in that local area. The sales reps in the store may know which carriers work, or you can plug your zip code into the web site and it should only list the phones that work in that area.

Fair warning, ST unlimited is not really unlimited. They don't allow streaming in their tos, and they will throttle you if you use too much too fast.
