Help No notifications when screen is locked

I checked my wifi and power settings and still don't know what is going on. Facebook messenger is the only way I have to communicate with some people so it is frustrating. Impossible to check it every few minutes. Any ideas here?

This doesn't sound right at all. You don't receive any updates other than Facebook?
