Help no pink LOCKED or UNLOCKED at top of Boot Menu ?

B_V_Z

Lurker
Recently acquired another D.Inc. , this one has no PINK bar at the top of the menu where most of them say **LOCKED** .... or **UNLOCKED**

Anyone know why ?
i have a thought on it ... but wild guess at best

It basically looks brand new , never used.
And it has a boot loop condition at first HTC white screen .
Sometimes it loops that same screen a few times - then freezes on that screen.
Sometimes it just directly freezes on that screen.

Will not perform any actions from boot menu except SIMLOCK.
Factory Restore - as soon as you select that and hit power button - it goes back to White Screen loop.

Same thing with any other selection - as soon as you hit power button - it goes back to that loop.

Except SIMLOCK
It will change screens and then displays

-5: SD FAT32 init fail !!!
Process done, reboot device ?
<VOL UP> Yes

(hit Vol Up ... it goes blank)

i would like to be able to use this phone , if anyone can help would be Very Appreciated . :)

Thank you :adore:

First picture is screen it loops / stops on.

The HBoot , Touch Panel , and Radio numbers are quite a bit different between them ..... if that means anything .... along with the dates.

Thank you for any advice .

you are correct, the reason you dont have locked/unlocked is because of the different hboots... what you can attempt to do is flash a factory image on it via the sd card to see if it boots up...

but to be clear, selecting the recovery options or fastboot options sends the phone into a bootloop?

so...step 1 would be to take the sd card out of the phone and put it into a device that can read and write to it from a PC.

Step 2) You will then have to format the entire card to FAT32 (dont use a "quick format" option), everything on the card will be deleted.

Step 3) download the following file(either directly to the sd card or onto a PC, then copy to the sd card):
http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip

Step 4) pull the battery from the phone and put the sd card into the phone

Step 5) put the battery back into the phone...press and hold the volume DOWN button, continue to hold the volume button and press and hold the power button.

Step 6) The phone should then boot into the hboot screen (like you photographed above), it will then automatically detect the file on the sd card, and just follow the prompts to update the phone.

hopefully that will make the phone bootable for you :)

Thanks sdrawkcab
Glad to hear that No Pink Lock/UnLock is not an absolute issue !

Recovery = vibrate , htc screen - blank
repeats 3 more times-
freeze on htc screen.

FastBoot = goes to FASTBOOT screen

Bootloader- takes back to HBoot screen
Reboot- goes to frozen htc screen
Reboot BootLoader- returns to FastBoot screen
Power Down- off

-------------------------------------------

None of my D.Inc's came with SD card. lol
i do have a 4gb micro SD card that was used in a previous LG900 phone

It has some photo images on it
Would they need to be erased ?

And i am a complete novice about any of this
no idea if it is Fat32 etc ....

Have been googling all over and your image idea sounds good , have seen it mentioned in some other cases.

Basically , i don't know where to start in doing any of this. :o

check out the edit i made to the post above... :)... however i will tell you, the fact that is does not boot into recovery is not a good sign, that is usually a sign that part of the internal memory is corrupted...flashing the factory image does have a chance of fixing it though.

My laptop has a card reader slot.
But can't find my SD micro adapter just yet - and may not find it at all.

Would it be possible maybe , to insert the micro SD into another working Dr.Inc. - attach USB cable and join phone to laptop - then be able to reformat the SD card like that ?
And then load the files to it via the donor phone/cable.
Then transplant SD into the victim.

Will try to google info on reformatting SD after i get some sleep.
Have reformatted / initialized some PC hard drives before.

another question if you have idea
-5: SD FAT32 init fail !!!

is -5 a specific fault code ?
like an automotive diagnostic reader (per se')
In automotive the code would be decoded and used to direct the repairs.
Just curious if they have the software dialed in that tight on these phones.

i need some sleep lol

preferably, a card reader is best, but the working incredible should work fine(always has for me)...

where are you seeing that init failure?

That detail came up after selecting SIMLOCK

Going to try and hunt up the SD adapter some more.

Probably will just be taking some baby steps on this deal next few days - lotta Thanksgiving stuff going on around here with family at different locations starting tomorrow.
