No Podcasts please

Is there a way, either the stock music player or another one, that I can play just my music and not podcasts?

Do you mean you dont want the podcasts to be visible in your music player?

I just dont want them played if I hit Play All Music.

This is a very annoying problem.

Op is asking for a music player that you can selectively ignore certain folders, such as podcasts.



I haven't found a good solution yet (other than a playlist)

Couldnt you just keep podcasts in a folder of their own, download a 3rd party player just for podcasts and point it to that folder?

The problem is the music apps automatically scan your storage for media files, and incorporate them automatically.

I have a music folder for music, and a podcast folder for podcasts.

However, music players will still play my podcasts if I select to play all or shuffle my music.

The end result is my rocking out gets interrupted by 4 hour long history podcasts

The podcast apps only play my podcasts

Oddly enough - I actually want the reverse in my podcast player. I use Pocketcast and wish there was a way to set it up so that in between podcasts it would play a couple of song randomly from a play list.

Anyway, to the OP - you should be able to set up a playlist with only your music on it. Alternatively if you search the Play Store you can find "folder players" that work by playing what is in a folder you point it to. Just keep your podcasts in a separate folder.

Ive never used the stock player but with 3rd party apps you can black/white list folders that the player will scan so for example, on my player (PowerAmp) i have the Ringtone folder unchecked so it doesnt appear in the player :thumbup:

I have the same with my ringtones...I will be listening to my music, then a ringtone will come on...it confused me once as it was the start of a song I hadn't realised I had as a ringtone, I am singing along and it stopped HAHA!
