Help No ringtone when receiving text if open

Can anyone help? I will receive a ringtone for a text unless that contact has an open text on my phone, If it is open and I get a response text, it remains silent

Yup, that is the way it works...

not too cute, but when 5.0 came along, that is how it works for me.

However, I have all notifications set to also Vibrate, and it will indeed vibrate just fine. Just no tones.
