No Search In Apps

I have a Samsung galaxy ace gt s5830, have been to the samsung apps page just because i wanted a particular app in order to translate english words (typed in) into another language.
well after 2/3 days of trying i have at the moment given up. I am led to believe that there are over 100,000 apps available and having scrolled through 8000 of them i have now given up as there is NO search box of any sort in order to find the app you want, yes i do realise that there are categories, on this occasion i suspected the type of app i wanted would be under education, however i could be wrong.
as i say gone through 8000 apps so far , fingers worn out, still no sign of a search.
tried to contact samsung to ask a question but of course there email addy is not onsite and their contact us is just a runaround which never actually lets you contact anyone with a question.
all in all i feel that its probably best to go back to my old phone and give up with the internet version.
sadly the shop (o2) never explained that these phones come with no instructions whatsoever, took 2 days just to turn it on after main screen, now it seems so obvious, just swipe and go, but without any instructions its an extremely bad model and make.

Hi makapa, and welcome to AF,

I'm sorry you had such a bad first experience. I've never looked at the Samsung apps page, but why not try the Android Market, now called "Google Play Store"? Although the search in that is a lot poorer than you'd expect from Google, there definitely is a search function.

There's also a web version, where as an example I typed the word "translate" into the search box and got the following results: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=translate&c=apps. If you log into the site using the same GMail account that you activated your phone with you can select apps in the website and download and install them directly to your phone (as long as your phone is connected to WiFi or mobile data).

Hope that helps,

Hadron
