Help No sms reading through car speakers

Hi all,

Im tearing my hair out trying to figure out if this phone is capable of reading out sms messages through the bluetooth connection to my BMW 5 series.

I used for a short period a Nokia Lumia 800 with mango 7.5. When this was connected to the bluetooth connection and received an sms, it gave you the option to allow the message to be read out over the car speakers.. then at the end you could reply to the sms and dictate to the car microphone, the phone then repeated what it thought you had said, before giving you the option to send the sms. All this is done without touching the phone and all speech comes through the car speakers.

So, my question. Does the HTC one x have this option? I've tried many apps but none seem to read out the message via the car speakers. is this possible to do?

Which apps have you tried? Do any of the alternative SMS apps do what you want them too? Go SMS, Handcent etc?

check out enhanced sms and caller id. it's a paid app in the play store; the developer is very responsive to inquiries. i don't know if it will work, but it works with my bluetooth headset - though not for voice dialing (which is doesn't claim to do anyway). i have not tried to use the reply to sms feature, but it is part of the app.

Skyvi is another app that may do want you want it to, I noticed it has a 'Speak incoming messages' and a 'Start on bluetooth pair' setting.

I use read it to me - free on the market. It works really well - I have it set to read sms aloud when my phone is connected to bluetooth or to my headphones.

If anybody has a solution for Navigation through car speakers, please post!!!

I just downloaded read it to me, set up was VERY easy...just need someone to send me a text while I`m driving now.
