Help No sound for incoming text message

I do not hear anything when I get a text message, only the vibrate works. I tried downloading new text message notification sounds, they don't work either. I need help because I rely on text more than voice calls. Thanks in advance.

Look in Settings at Notification Ringtone. Make certain it isn't set to "Silent." Just in case you hadn't thought of that already.
