Help No sound from Clock/Weather widget

So something weird has happened with my EVO. I'm running the stock rom (rooted) and some time yesterday, my HTC Clock/Weather widget stopped playing sound (like rain drops when it's raining, etc.) and I can't figure out how to get it back. My audio settings are correct (media set to 60%, btw) and I've changed "scenes" to see if it was an issue with the one I created.

Alas, nothing has worked. Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue? Again, when I unlock the screen, the weather animation video plays, but there is no sound with it.

I didn't ever hear audio played with the animations.....hmm maybe I just just didn't pay attention or it never worked on my phone

I have owned 2 EVOs. My first was hardware 0004, and the one I have now is 0003. Each one would play sounds to accompany the weather, such as rain or thunder if that is what the weather was. It worked until last night. I checked all of my volume settings and everything is correct. I've rebooted the phone, still no dice.

I have a 004. I am interested now because this seems like a cool feature but it doent not work on mine either!

My phone is not rooted and I cannot figure out how this works. This is the first I'm hearing of this feature. Details please.

The EVO DOES NOT play any sounds when you unlock the animation for the weather/clock. The wallpaper animations doesn't play sound either. You must have been running a custom ROM.

Look believe me if you want to or not, but I'm running the official stock ROM, the only thing I've done to it, is I rooted with Unrevoked Forever and I removed the junkware off of the phone, that is it. I bought it brand new from Amazon Wireless and haven't loaded any other ROMs on the device. I've had 2 EVOs and they both (on the stock Sense ROM) played sound for Rain/Thunderstorms (rain drops/thunder respectively).

I'm seriously not making any of this up.

So I called the HTC helpdesk. Yeah, that was about pointless. The kid didn't even know what the Sense UI is. Probably should've spent that time making a sandwich.

If I figure this out, I'll be sure to let everyone know. It's just so weird that it worked one day and then it's gone.

What we are telling you is people who have not rooted their phone has never had any sounds for the HTC Clock/weather widget. Maybe someone has an app that does that for specific widgets but this launch phone has never played a single clock/weather widget sound. And I'm sure this would have been a huge topic of discussion if this happened. Sound plays one day then doesn't play the next. It's not working because we never had that capability. Nobody wants to hear rain or lightening everytime they unlock their phone.

You seem really sure of yourself. Thank you. Please move along.

Mods please kill this thread. It's going no where now.

Well my phone (HTC Desire HD) never had weather sounds until the 2.3 Android update was applied last week and now it does.

I want the thing to shut up, and there's no settings anywhere that relate to this .

I'm firmly in the "nobody wants to hear rain or lightening everytime they unlock their phone" camp Evulution mentioned (although, Evulution, some people clearly do and you need to get over your denial, it's there, watch the video!!)

Crazy rubbish!

hey kingp, I've read your comments. Your concerns are right! My htc incredible S's weather has no sounds too. But my htc desire S's weather sound is perfectly working. I don't know what happened. Please update me if you get the solution to this problem!

kingp,
I think I know the problem. The problem is the OS, if your OS is not Android 2.3.3 gingerbread there is no sound effect. look at the settings of the weather there is no option for turning on/off the sound effect for the weather. my incredible S is Android 2.2 and my Desire S is 2.3.3 so I think, that's the problem with me. I don't know if we have the same because I don't know your phone's OS. I'll just wait for the OTA update for my OS! :D tell me if you solved the problem. Thanks!

EDIT: I found it.
Really, really, non-intuetive.
x Want to change your town? Hold down finger on widget, and drag it to Edit. (Aha, here we have "fullscreen animation"! You might think that that affects sound, but it does not).
x Want to change sound? Click on weather-part of the widget.

ORIGNAL POST:

Hey all,

I just discovered this as well. The bloody phone starts with the rain-sound everytime I unlock it. For those of you who knows, could you please just tell me where to turn it off please?

Why? Imagine the following scenario: trying to put the 1.5yr kid to sleep. Almost there. Been at this for half an hour. He's slowly closing his eyes. Yeah, Im the man, it's working! Soon he will sleep. Thinking, hey, I can check my mail while I sit here rocking his bed. WHRRRAICHCHCHHCCH rain! Full volume, not from outside (where the sound is more gentle) but twenty centimtres from my sons ear! And now; the car-wipers as well! Yeah, bring it on HTC! Brilliant idea! Kid sits straight up, wants to play with the funny sound-creating device. Thanks... alot.

Ok, so that last paragraph was sort of unnessesary.
