Help No sound in turn by turn navigation

claudiocc

Lurker
I am using the RideWithGps app for bike turn-by-turn navigation.
I get the notifications on the screen but no voice prompts.

This is on an LG G4 TMobile variant, latest version: Android 6.0
Kernel 3.10.84 Build MRA58K Software version H81120p.
The app works flawlessly (both on screen notifications and voice prompts)
on my daughters phone (Moto G4).

It is as if something blocks access to the media services from this app.
I tried clearing caches and reinstalling, no success.
It is difficult to debug because the only way to test it is to start riding (or
driving...) a predetermined routes.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you checked the permissions to that app? I wouldn't think that playing audio require any special permissions but you may check and see which permissions are allowed/denied for that app.

Right, thanks for the suggestion.
I had thought about that.
Also, like you, I do not think that playing audio requires special permissions.
In any case the app permissions and notification priorities look OK to me, see linked screenshots

The only other thing I could think of to try is to try adjusting the volume while it is playing audio. It's a long shot but I don't have any other ideas right now.

Perhaps it might be worth contacting the app developer and letting them know what is going on.

Yes, I have been in contact with them..they are also stumped.
Anyway, if anyone stumbling on this thread has any idea, let me know.
And if I figure out what went wrong I will post a follow up in case someone else runs into a similar problem.
Thank you so much for taking your time to think about it and post suggestions.

DId you ever figure out your issue? I'm having the exact same problem on a Blackberry Keyone running Nougat and I'm stumped!
