Help no sound

I bought a brand new prism 2 for my daughter today n now it has no sound or mic. Any thoughts b4 I have to drive all the back up there.
I can pull battery out n put bk n and the sound n mic work for maybe a minute then gone again.

If I were you, I'd make the trip and get a replacement while you can - if you leave it, chances are they'll insist on a repair.
