why won't my sound work on my Galaxy S3? Carrier is AT&T. Phone calls work fine but no sound from ringer , alerts or anything else.

Assuming that you have checked All the volume settings and don't have the phone on silent, do you hear anything on a call if you select speakerphone? If not I suspect your loudspeaker is not working (hardware issue) If it does work then it is most likely a setting somewhere. ....
