Help No Sounds, No Haptic BUT...

I own a Galaxy Note 2 SGH-i317m phone. I've had it for 1.5 years now. It has worked flawlessly until recently. The last time the device worked i was attempting to shove in a earphone jack into the 3.5mm opening -- the device would not kick in and transfer the sound so i kept pressing harder and twisting the plug into the phone until it kicked in but produced a crackling noise through the speakers. The phone hasnt worked since.

SYMPTOMS

* Very garbled and/or very low audio coming from the earphone jack

* No external speaker sounds -- i cannot hear the phone ring or any notification tones.

* Making phone calls with my ear up against the phone and speaking thru the phone's mic are fine. I can have a normal conversation with a caller when using the phone next to my head (ear speaker and internal mic)

* No sounds can be heard from the device. Under System >> Sound >> Volume every item is set to full / max volume

* Haptic Feedback -- though enabled for soft buttons i do not feel anything when using it.

* Bluetooth works fine for everything.


SOLUTIONS

* Cleaned out the earbud jack

* Factory Reset OS -- I am using Jedi X17 / Android 4.1.2. I have never had issues with the hacked roms. My OS is rooted.

* Replaced the earpiece + earphone jack with a new part

I STILL CANNOT HEAR ANY SOUNDS FROM THE DEVICE except when i make or receive a call and only when i hold the device to my head.

Any ideas on what is going on with the device?

Updrade to jedix20 just wipe, flash, restore. It is the same version of android.

Then let me know if it is still not working.

Also how are you restoring apps to your freshly flashed phone? Titanum? Are you backing up all apps including system apps or just user apps?

I am thinking it may be an app install or somthing dumb that shouldent be doing it. So test sound with just rom installed and doinf nothing else after upgrade to v20
