I've had the EVO Shift for months and haven't had a problem, but I noticed today that items I added yesterday to my Google calendar via my computer hadn't synced over the air to my phone. When I went to Accounts and Sync, I found that the last time my phone synced to Google contacts/mail/calendar, Facebook contacts, Mail contacts, Weather, or Yahoo! was Wednesday night. It's now Friday morning.
Curiously, the Exchange ActiveSync is updating, since it lists a couple minutes ago as its last update time. And even though Mail and Facebook contacts aren't syncing, I'm still getting push notifications of email messages, and Facebook recognizes when I receive new notifications. And the phone is showing the current weather too.
When I press Sync Now on any of these non-updated accounts, nothing happens. I'm nervous about trying "Remove account" and then re-adding them in case something crazy happens (or I end up having to manually merge all the hundreds of contacts with Facebook profiles and Exchange-stored phone numbers...AGAIN).
I don't use my Gmail account for anything, so based on a support message I read somewhere I experimented with pressing "Clear Data" for the Gmail app. When I open the Gmail app it says "Your email will appear shortly" and in the bar at the top it says "Waiting for sync" but nothing ever happens.
I installed the new system patch a few days ago, but I don't remember exactly when, so I don't know if this is related to it.
I've seen other posts on these forums refer to "rooting". I don't know what that is, so it sounds like my phone isn't currently set up for any solution that involves it.
Any ideas?
