No Text notifications in status bar

I hope someone can help me. I do not get any notifications of when I get a text message. Nothing in the status bar or notification sounds either. The text comes in but goes straight to the the contacts message page/history. I have to continually search all my contacts to see if anyone sent me a text message.

So here's what you do. Go to your text messages. Hit the more options tab at the bottom left of the phone. Go to settings, then notifications. Check the box and pick your notification tone. Yay the notifications are back!
