Root No TWRP screen after install

Hi,
I tried rooting my wife's S4 Galaxy Gt i9505 the proper way instead of the Kingo version.
I did all the usual things like usb debugging enabled Samsung drivers and had the new rom and gapps installed to SD card ready.
I tried to root using TWRP 2.8.4.0, using Odin 3.09.
I found out with the S3 that Resurrection Remix MM 6.0.1 installed Supersu
When I got a PASS on the Odin screen and it restarted on it's own, then istead of TWRP screen showing after Vol up, Power and Home buttons pushed, I got this;

Don't know how to proceed with above--that's why I used TWRP, or tried to.
Perhaps Odin or TWRP versions too new, or should have used twrp 3.0.0 . I picked the twrp version for the S4, which was anything from 2.6.4.0 up to 3.0.0.+.
Can I go back and try another twrp version, and if so, how do I remove this one.
What did I do wrong please ??
Thanks. :-0

I would get the newest version from TWRP. I think the international should be jfltexx 3.0.2.0
But you may want to double check. Think it depends on processor, Qualcomm or Exynos.
You can get the Qualcomm jfltexx tar here.
https://dl.twrp.me/jfltexx/

Uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin and unplug phone and remove Battery after pass with Odin. Replace Battery then use button combo to boot into hopefully TWRP. Flash the SuperSU zip and that should keep stock recovery from overwriting TWRP.

Thank you for super quick reply. The phone has Qualcomm gear inside it. Just downloaded the qualcomm link- thanks.
I noticed with the Resurrect remix rom that it seemed to put Supersu onto the phone with the flashing of rom. I never downloaded Supersu when I did my S3's, but was on phone after the flash. I had to enable APPS and ADB box in Developer mode before I had final root- even after RRrom had been flashed.
Will have a go again now.
:-)

I recommend doing a Backup of stock rooted as soon as you get TWRP and SuperSU installed. Save Backup to SD card and maybe copy to PC just in case. Then flash your ROM of choice.

Got a pass- whipped battery out- back in, the key combo- twrp did come up, but said it couldn't stop stock from re-writing twrp---as you said.
As I mentioned, supersu went on with RR rom with S3, so how do I flash the downloaded link you supplied to sort this out , please???
Always used Kingo before, would have been in pub by now, lol.
Truth is, at nearly 70, I have forgotten what I did after rooting with Kingo to get Twrp on the phone- well away after that, lol
Thanks for sticking with me.

Sorry forgot. Download SuperSU zip, copy to SD card. While in TWRP, chose install ,locate update zip and flash.
This will root phone and install SuperSU as system app. TWRP should stick then.
Reboot phone, should update or optimise apps.
Boot back into recovery to check if TWRP still there. If so, make a backup.

Sorry buddy- when I go vol up etc, it has gone back to original screen shown earlier. How many times can one flash/ mess around with these things. Once I am in normal twrp setting , I know what to do.
It didn't update binary
Just opened supersu, no binary. In pic, I applied supersu update that you gave me- it seemed to have taken. So I will try odin again with twrp 3.0.2. How about older Odin ??
If no go will be in pub later, drowning sorrows, lol.
Thanks again

Flash TWRP with Odin again. Do the battery pull then boot into recovery with button combo. Flash the SuperSU update zip then reboot. Open SuperSU app and update binary. Should stick this time.

Went into odin,- opened twrp in AP box, it whirred a bit then - RESET. Back to square one.
One last question, where do you flash the supersu update- can't see anywhere to do that---this is the only bit I am not sure about.
Will leave you in peace, lol

Just used odin again, and on key combo, it kicked into TWRP screen---doing a nandroid backup now.

Thank you for your help and sticking with me. :) :-)

Before you flash new ROM, make sure you can boot into TWRP from phone off. TOO late, lol.
It does actually do that.
Thanks for help--if you were local I would certainly get you a few pints.
Phone on MM 6.0.1. Working well. Put Nova Launcher on it and today I finished setting all her email and stuff up.

Had a few and enjoyed them all, lol.

While the 6.0.1 RR rom is working well on the phone, I feel that all is not quite right.
When I turn on the phone and the Galaxy S4 logo comes up, there is some tiny writing in red and yellow at top of screen.
Red says- "KERNAL IS NOT SEANDROID:ENFORCING"
Yellow is- "Set warranty bit:kernal"
Battery life on S3's improved a good bit---same or worse on this S4. Never was good to start with.
What have I done wrong or missed out, please???

Read the links, thanks.
Seems as though it is no big deal to leave as is- the phone is out of warranty, and I don't sell my phones. I would rather wreck them than have someone read what can be left on, even after factory reset. They don't tend to work too well after a trip under the wheels of a 44 ton artic, lol.
Thanks JF

Also depending on how long you have had the phone, might be time for new battery. Can get OEM replacement from Amazon reasonable.

Hi,
Got a new Anker battery in it- the original Sammy one was getting fat on one side, and able to spin like a top. In fact the battery is now lasting better than it has ever been. I put a plain pitch black wallpaper on it. Now got the same wallpaper on my Note 4, instead of a pretty pic that screws the life out of battery.
Will see how it goes.
Thanks.
