Root No Voice/SMS (SMS Error 64). Data works.

A day ago I woke up to everything working fine. Later in the day I got error 64 and if I make calls I get an error (12 or 16 I think) and then I get redirected to support (I'll get to this later). I reboot and it works fine. Then a few hours later it doesn't again and now I'm stuck like that.

I would allow support to come on, but I know a tower reset or whatever won't work because I've been connected to 3 separate towers and it didn't fix it. Unless they do something other then that.

I'd try re-activating but as far as I know ##VIRGIN# is impossible unless I'm on stock rom. What do I have to do to get stock rom to work? S-On again? Re-Lock? I've tried stock based roms but ##VIRGIN# does nothing.

The ##CLEAR# fix didn't do shit.

I have everything flashed from this thread.

Or is there a different fix. If it was an activation issue I don't think Data should work. Help?

Its worth mentioning that the only thing I can think of that may have caused this is going back to an ICS rom for the first time since Midnightrom. The night before this happened I flashed NegaLite-BluRom (I selected Virgin in Aroma)

Its also worth noting that my phone has been fine the past month.

Its also also worth noting that my new billing cycle started on the 2nd.

so you just got this error out of no where or was it after activating? because i had to go all the way back to stock rooted rom i was still s-off and then update profile and everything worked fine for me

If you are s off you can just flash the Rom.zip from the ruu in bootloader as a pg86img.zip

That will put you completely stock, but leave you s off ......factory unrooted with factory recovery

I forget exactly how to.get it, but you essentially start ruu in windows with your phone disconnected, go to your temp folder and find the newest folder, open and find Rom.zip, put it on the sd and rename.....flash in bootloader

I think the ruu thread describes this and may even have a dl

Out of nowhere, I've been activated for a month.

I figured its not a rom problem, I've tried 4 or 5 different roms and it didn't fix it. I was just giving as much info as possible.

Every time I ever called virgin, they always just said to ##VIRGIN# and reactivate. They never did anything else to fix my issues. That's why I'm iffy to go through the damned process again. I'm also questioning if I should go stock before I call them.

virgin mobile told me to do something like tht to. it may just be you have to update yo profile. idk if that will work for you but a lady from vm kept telling me to do some kinda crap so i hung up i tried different roms then i flashed stock rooted from while i was still s-off and updated the profile. idk if that works for u but thats what i did

Hi.
I also got that error when I flashed CM10 on my phone for the first time after coming from Harmonia. Since I've managed to fix it, let me see if I can be of assistance: What error 16 basically tells you is that the Sprint network (to which VM subscribes to) has detected a case of account fraud on your network. This sort of thing happens when a ROM changes some network settings related to your account, which is originally meant to be sense based.

How I solved this issue:
I called Virgin mobile with Skype, told them about the error and the fact that I had recently "updated software" my phone (Don't mention ROM installation or unlocking bootloader because that voids your warranty and they will refuse to serve you.)

The technician will explain the error to you and will then direct your call to the tier 3 tech support; in their headquarters (so be prepared to hold...I waited on the phone for 45minutes) once you do get through, a technician will ask to verify your account info and proceed to removing the block and reactivating service on the phone. After this is done, do a battery pull and reboot, and things should go back to normal.

Sounds like that may be it. I mean, cycle just restarted, I've been manually imputing the APNs to get MMS working on JB roms instead of the mms fix floating around here, and I've been flashing a lot of roms. I'm attempting to flash stock right now so I can try reactivating, but if that doesn't work then I'll do what you did, but make it easy on myself.

I'll just call sprint directly, tell them I'm a VM customer, and have them fix it. So much easier. I've read about other people doing that too.

While Sprint can try to correlate the recent flood of Error 16s with rooting the Evo 3D, they can't conclusively prove that your error 16 is the direct result of rooting. It's circumstantial evidence.

Found this forum talking about error 16 even before E3D root came out.
.:What is "Error Code 16" !!???:..

Error 16 is rare, and if you have it, just call. They'll reset a few things, and poof. You'll be all set ;)

It's actually pretty common these days.
