Help No Voicemail Notifications

anfarmer

Lurker
Hey, y'all...seeing if anyone has encountered this problem and/or identified a fix. I got tired of ads flashing in my face when I tried to listen to my messages. Figured that if I disabled the crappy voicemail app, the old notifications might kick in, as well as the "direct-dial" way of accessing voicemail. In my efforts to get back to the old voicemail indicators, I guess I broke something.

1. I disabled the Voicemail app in settings. Figured the old notifications might come back if Visual Voicemail wasn't high-jacking them. Of course, no such luck. Research since then has shown that Sprint's new voicemail app uses a different type of notification than the old system. The dial-in voicemail system itself contains no options for which type of notifications you want to use. Lesson learned. But then the real trouble started.
2. I re-enabled the Voicemail app in settings. Still no voicemail indicators.
3. I factory reset the phone. No dice.
4. I uninstalled the voicemail app updates, and let the system re-install the most recent version. THEN I factory reset the phone again, and ran "Update profile", "Update PRL" (why not? Couldn't hurt at this point).
5. Made sure my settings were right:
*** Voicemail Service = "My carrier"
*** Voicemail Settings only contains my phone number. No toggles.
6. Installed Google voice, tried to set "Voicemail Service" to "Google Voice", then back to "My Carrier". Figured that might help.
7. Have removed and re-inserted battery, rebooted phone a few times.
8. One more factory reset, for the hell of it.

Still no voicemail indicators. How do I get this app to function properly again? It's annoying as hell, but at least I knew when somebody left a message without dialing into voicemail just to check.

NOTE: I see that a new user has posted a question regarding not getting voicemails since buying the phone. My notifications were working flawlessly until I messed with the app. This time, it's not the network.

lol...any help is appreciated.

HTC One SV, Factory stock, S-ON, never rooted.

If I were you, rather than wasting any more time trying to figure out why it's not working, I'd go to the nearest Sprint store, ask where the nearest support or service center was and, if it was feasible, take the phone there and ask if they could get it working again - without reflashing (unless you wnt to back up every single thing in the phone).

I'll wait a bit before doing that. See...I WAS going to root the phone to try and fix this, and went so far as to unlock the bootloader. Didn't go any further than that...no custom recovery, no so-off, etc, but here we are...they see an unlocked bootloader, they're going to cry "voided warranty", and that'll be that.

This qualifies as an annoyance, not something that's critical. Perhaps the forthcoming 4.2 OTA release (when available later this month perhaps?) will fix it automatically. I'll wait a bit longer before taking it to Sprint.

I may be a little late but I had this same problem. I downgraded the voicemail app to the factory. then I removed my passcode to get to my voicemails. then I restarted my phone. and it worked after that!
