Help No write access to sd card

zinnia48

Lurker
I have a moto G 2nd gen , running android 5.0.2. Up to a few days ago had write access to my 32gb sd card,
these has been used mainly for my photos, I have been using quickpic, which suddenly stopped me from adding photos from the standard camera app, or delete photos from the card. The screens forselecting the sd card to have write access, are displayed but do not implement write access. I have loaded camera mx, which thinks i'm running android 4.4, so will only let me store pics on internal storage.

I am confused, why has this happened ?, and more importantly how to get write access back to my sd card, phone is not rooted, dont want to go down that path.

Thanks

The SD could have gone read only because it's failing, worn out. If so the only thing you can do is retrieve your photos, videos, etc. from it, and replace it. Have you got a computer or another phone or tablet to test it with?

Flash storage does have a finite life and going read only is something it can do if it detects it's failing, basically to preserve the existing data on there, so you can hopefully save it. Writing to flash is actually a destructive process, like SDs and USB sticks and can literally wear them out.
