Hi, folks.
Yeah, yeah, I know this is an android forum (which is my personal phone) but this about my work phone. My only choices are iPhone (no thank you) and Windows Phones. (At least they don't offer the infernal crackberry as an option!)
I have no complaints about the Nokia 920, particularly after the updates and patches around Windows 8.1. It does everything I need and is a solid performer.
However, I've had it over two years now and the battery is getting a little lazy. Although it's technically not "user replaceable" it is quite easy to do, much easier than the iPhone, for example. (I have an otterbox commuter case on it, and it takes longer to get the case off and remove the sim card than it does to pull the battery.)
Under our work plan I can simply replace the phone if I want. I don't really want to go bigger (the Nokia 1520 is now the flagship) and the most realistic option is the Nokia 830. In most respects it does all that the 920 does, plus it has a slot for an external MicroSD (up to 128GB IIRC). In parlance it's referred to generally as a "sidegrade." Here's the details on the 830 if anyone is interested.
It just kind of bothers me to toss away a perfectly good phone simply because the battery is getting tired.
Also, I'm not crazy about moving all of my stuff off the 920, that will take a while, not to mention having to configure the 830 to where I already have the 920. I mean that's the sticking point anytime you think about a new phone, right?
I think my greatest concern is that when the 920 does HAVE to be replaced, I may not have the option of something like the 830.
So the reason I'm posting this in the lounge at the Android forums is that you're mostly a smart bunch of folks, who like to think outside the box and this is a great forum with lots of fun, ribbing and mutual respect (except for the iPhone fanboys...ha ha).
So toss some thoughts at me and help me make up my mind.
